COMPANY PROFILE

TAT Piedmont Aviation has been in operation for more than six decades and has a long history of satisfied customers around the world. Our team is made up of highly skilled technicians dedicated to bringing you the best product, on time – every time. Our comprehensive service and support ensures that we can meet the needs and demands of our customers.

We have the facilities to manage the entire repair and overhaul process in-house – providing more control over quality, turn times and cost – leading to better overall value for our customers. By using our experience to produce a product with unparalleled quality, we assist you in achieving value through superior reliability and performance.

Our facilities are located in North Carolina, with regional sales representatives worldwide. TAT Piedmont is a FAA and EASA Part 145 Repair Station with nearly 60 years of experience in landing gear overhaul and over 35 years experience in Honeywell auxiliary power units (APU) and related component overhauls.

TAT Piedmont is one of the largest, most extensively equipped independent maintenance facilities in the world. With a customer base encompassing all segments of aviation, TAT Piedmont provides component repair and overhaul services to valued clients around the globe.

    Mr. Dave Thomas

    Dave offers a history of success spearheading all facets of enterprise operations in Multi-billion-dollar corporations world-wide. By applying strong business acumen, lean vision and implementation, systems acuity, and leadership talents, Dave is very much at home creating operational centers of excellence.

    Dave currently serves as GM and Vice President Operations and Supply Chain at TAT Piedmont Aviation, where he is responsible for providing the overall leadership and management of business systems and processes. He has spent many years in increasingly senior positions with top tier corporations such as Toyota, Lear, B/E Aerospace, Volvo and now TAT Piedmont.

    Dave’s academic background includes an M.B.A. in Business Operations Management from Atlanta University, completing his D.B.A. in Lean Operations this year, and attending Columbia University for Executive Education. He is also a C.L.P. (Certified Lean Professional) and examiner for AME/ASQ/SME/SHINGO.

    Joined TAT Piedmont in 2016 and is currently serving as VP Commercial and Finance. Previous experience within TAT as Acting President, VP Finance and Business Controller.

    Graduate of Southern Illinois University providing over 18 years worth of Automotive and Aerospace Quality experience in plating, paint, composites, layouts, process flows and assembly.

  • Mr. Barry Startz

    Mr. Barry Startz

    Sr. Director of Operations

    Mr. Barry Startz

    Barry is currently the Sr. Director of Operations at TAT Piedmont Power and Actuation. Previously, Barry joined TurbineAero Repair (formally known as Triumph Air Repair) in 1986 and has served in multiple leadership roles throughout the company. Most notably, he served as the Global Director of LRU Operations, Supply Chain Director, Program Manager, LRU Operations Manager, and APU Operations Manager. In his previous roles with Triumph, Barry drove significant improvements in cost reductions and Supplier Management. In 2016, Barry contributed to over $1M in cost reduction. Barry is also Toyota Black Belt certified in Lean, as well as an Army Vet with 35 years in the Aviation Industry.

    Ms. Catherine Schmid

    Joined TAT Piedmont in 2018 and is currently serving as Director of Supply Chain. Previous experience includes strategic Supply Chain Management positions in various industries, such as furniture, building products and aerospace. Extensive experience in complex international multi-site supply chain development and management. Proven leadership skills aimed at achieving sustainable results.

    Joined TAT Piedmont in April of 2018, with a total of 16 years’ experience in Human Resources in Aerospace. Extensive training in Leadership Development, Appreciative Inquiry and Open-Book Management. Proven leader in culture change and coaching mid-level management.

    Director of Account Management

    Mr. Donnie Loflin

    Over 22 years with TAT Piedmont, experienced in both Operations and Account Management. Currently serving as Director of Account Management for the past 7 years. Previous experience includes leadership positions in APU Operations and Production Control. Extensive experience in Surplus Sales, Leasing, Product Training and Technical Support and Contracts. Focused on building long term partnerships with TAT customers and improving overall customer satisfaction.
