COMPANY PROFILE

TAT Piedmont Aviation has been in operation for more than six decades and has a long history of satisfied customers around the world. Our team is made up of highly skilled technicians dedicated to bringing you the best product, on time – every time. Our comprehensive service and support ensures that we can meet the needs and demands of our customers.

We have the facilities to manage the entire repair and overhaul process in-house – providing more control over quality, turn times and cost – leading to better overall value for our customers. By using our experience to produce a product with unparalleled quality, we assist you in achieving value through superior reliability and performance.

Our facilities are located in North Carolina, with regional sales representatives worldwide. TAT Piedmont is a FAA and EASA Part 145 Repair Station with nearly 60 years of experience in landing gear overhaul and over 35 years experience in Honeywell auxiliary power units (APU) and related component overhauls.

TAT Piedmont is one of the largest, most extensively equipped independent maintenance facilities in the world. With a customer base encompassing all segments of aviation, TAT Piedmont provides component repair and overhaul services to valued clients around the globe.

MANAGEMENT

  • Mr. Marty Cervellione

    Mr. Marty Cervellione

    General Manager

    Mr. Marty Cervellione, General Manager

    Marty began his career as a Ground Combat Officer in the United States Marine Corps serving from 2000-2006. In 2006, Marty was hired by Sikorsky Aircraft where he held managerial roles of increasing responsibility in Materials, Programs, Logistics and Distribution. In 2014, after 8 years with Sikorsky, Marty transitioned to Honeywell Aerospace where he led all Material Operations for the OEM and Repair and Overhaul Facilities. In January of 2018 Marty left Honeywell and joined Proterra as the Director of Supply Chain and Materials for the Proterra Transit Business.

    After 5 years with Proterra Marty joined the TAT team as the General Manager of the Piedmont Site. Marty brings with him over 20 years of operational and supply chain experience in the Aerospace and Electric Vehicle Industries.

    Marty holds a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and a master’s degree in Finance from Hofstra University.

  • Mr. Barry Startz

    Sr. Director of Trading & Leasing

    Mr. Barry Startz, Sr. Director of Trading & Leasing

    Barry is currently the Sr. Director of TAT Trading and Leasing. From 2019 to 2021 Barry was the Sr. Director of Operations at TAT Piedmont Power and Actuation. Previously, Barry joined TurbineAero Repair (formally known as Triumph Air Repair) in 1986 and has served in multiple leadership roles throughout the company. Most notably, he served as the Global Director of LRU Operations, Supply Chain Director, Program Manager, LRU Operations Manager, and APU Operations Manager. In his previous roles with Triumph, Barry drove significant improvements in cost reductions and Supplier Management. In 2016, Barry contributed to over $1M in cost reduction. Barry is also Toyota Black Belt certified in Lean, as well as an Army Vet with 35 years in the Aviation Industry.

    Mr. Donnie Loflin, Director of Operations

    Joining TAT Piedmont in 1997, Donnie has experience in many areas of TAT’s business. Having served in leadership roles that include Sales & Customer Support, Contract Management, Surplus Sales & Leasing, Technical Support and Production Control. His current role with TAT Piedmont is Director of APU Operations, focusing on meeting our customers’ needs by providing APU services that are industry leading in quality, reliability, on time delivery and turnaround time.

    Mr. Richard Wilborn, Director of Human Resources

    Richard Wilborn, Piedmont’s Human Resource Director, has a history of dedicated leadership, focusing on company goals and employee needs. His interpersonal skills and demonstrated abilities, allow him to communicate effectively at all levels. He has a reputation for “going extra mile”, ensuring job is done right even when it’s not his responsibility. He has served as an advisor and counselor to management concerning disciplinary actions and labor relations. Now he joined Dave Thomas and the team at Piedmont to help achieve the success of Piedmont.

    Richard served 8 years in the US Army right out of High School. In his spare time, Richard is an ACC Football Official and avid cyclist.

  • Mr. Drew Boesel

    FP&A Director

    Mr. Drew Boesel, FP&A Director

    Drew Boesel is the Head of Finance at TAT Piedmont Aviation. He leverages his rich experience in corporate finance and business planning to achieve growth and drive results for the organization.

    Prior to joining the company, Drew held management positions in the media and entertainment industry at Sony Pictures Entertainment, and held finance transformation positions in manufacturing, information technology, and staffing industries.

    Drew earned an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and International Business from Penn State University.

  • Mr. Brian Vivolo

    Quality Director

    Mr. Brian Vivolo, Quality Director

    Brian joined TAT Piedmont in February 2021, and he brings 25 years of Aerospace experience in the areas of composite interiors, seating, lavatories, APU LRU components, pneumatic controls, and actuation systems at Honeywell, B/E Aerospace, Collins Aerospace and HAECO Cabin Solutions. Brian has been leading and managing teams for the past 15 years in production manufacturing and ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems. He has a long history of customer relations and interfacing with major OEM and Airline customers focusing on Quality and Customer Satisfaction through Process Improvement and Defect Reduction. He has a Master’s in Business Administration and Undergraduate in Business Management, and he has also served in the United States Marine Corps as an E-5, Sergeant, in the 2nd AABN at Camp Lejune, North Carolina.

    Mr. David Ferguson, Director of Supply Chain

    David Ferguson, Director of Supply Chain at TAT Piedmont Aviation has spent decades in various Supply Chain leadership roles in multiple industries. Combined with several years spent working in IT, he is able to use his experience to help maximize ERP effectiveness. Prior to joining Piedmont in November of 2022, he spent several years as a Procurement Manager at HAECO Cabin Solutions.

    David is a graduate of The University of North Carolina with a B.S. degree in Information Systems Operations Management.

  • Scott West

    Scott West, Director of Landing Gear

    Scott began his career as an A-P With Cessna Citation in 1993 performing any maintenance required including painting on 500, 525, 550, 650, Ultra and X Citation Aircraft while contributing to the JPATS program.

    In 1998, Scott was hired by Landmark Aviation and held roles with increasing responsibilities in the FBO/MRO Corporate Business Jet 135 Charter Maintenance Management and then overall Operations for seven locations.

    In 2006 Scott was hired by GE Aviation Engine Facility and held various positions of assembly, B/P to planning and training on CF34, Ge90, 9X, GeNX, Passport and Leap X Engines. In addition Scott performed Process Engineering Management, (NPI) New Product Introduction Management and (FTY) First Time Yield, Cycle Time, Quality Design and Human Factors Introductions into production. In conjunction Scott served as Supply Chain and Transportation Manager for the facility managing the global delivery of 2500 engines and all arriving parts associated with them.

    In 2021 Scott left GE and became Operations Manager for Case Paper introducing Lean manufacturing, cycle time reduction and overall efficiency standards to the facility. In addition, Scott introduced over 2 million in capital expenditure improvements of new equipment for Lean Manufacturing and Ergonomic improvements.

    Scott holds an A-P Certificate-License from GTCC. Bachelor’s and MBA from Laurel University, Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt with Lean Manufacturing and VSM Master’s Training from GE Aviation.
